Roche is situated fairly central in Cornwall, 5 miles from St. Austell and the Eden Project, 8 miles from Bodmin and 15 miles from Newquay. (Click Here for Map) The main industry is now clay but in the past there was a brickworks at Carbis, tin on the Goss Moor, Wolfram at Castle-an-Dinas and stone quarry at Trezaise. Farming also played a major role in village life |

Roche Rock The ruins are those of a 15th century chapel. The chapel dedicated to St. Michael was built on this rock in 1409. Traditionally, a leaper named St. Gonard is said to have taken refuge there. It is 60ft high. The area is reputed to be hainted |

a miner, he makes his presence known either by making noises with the
chapel or by a shadow that flits from rock to rock with no earthly presence
to cast it. It was used in the final Omen film. |

Eden Project The Eden Project communicates its story in a 'living Theatre of plants and people' based in a large crater in which nestle two vast greenhouses (Biomes). These house plants, crops and landscapes from the humid tropics and warm temperature regions act as a backdrop to the temperature landscape, which we call the outer Diome. Eden uses exhibitions, art, storytelling, workshops, lectures and events to put messages across to both the public and formal education groups.
