11th May 2008 - Astra - Champion of Champions
11th may was the champion of champions at Swingfield near Folkstone. Practice went relatively well apart from a slight problem in the first practice. In the first of my three heats I came a comfortable second behind Richard smith. After making a couple of changes to the setup of the bike it was off for the second heat. I came away with a third place in this, which I was pleased with as it showed that my riding is consistent. However I then had a 6th place in my final heat. After a bad gate I was left behind and riding though dust going down the back straight for the first time. Although disappointed with the finishing position I was pleased that I recovered 2 places in the short amount of time I had. After only collecting three points from my third heat I qualified 7th for the final. Again in the final I didn't have the best of gates as the better ones had already been selected which is not surprising. Coming 6th in the final when it consisted of Rodgers, Jefferies, Smith and Joe Screen to name a few was not hugely disappointing. My riding is consistent, my confidence high and there are a lot of meetings remaining this season. With Collier Street only round the corner again there is alot of preparation to be done.
